Alaska death records are kept by the State of Alaska, even for the
incorporated Boroughs and municipalities.
The Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics is responsible
for managing vital records in the State of Alaska which include Alaska birth records, Alaska death records, fetal death,
divorce and Alaska marriage records, along with reports of adoption.

Under Alaska law, all Alaska death records are strictly confidential until they become
public records:
- Alaska birth records become public records 100 years after the event
- deaths, Alaska marriages, and Alaska divorces become public records 50 years after the event.
